In the roster of safaris, Kenya is topping the list by any yardstick with the Kenya Safari. Apart from the divine white sand beaches that it boasts of, Kenya stands tall for the grandiose of Mount Kilimanjaro and the tranquil environs of its wildlife. The landscape has to be visited to believe the pristine beauty that inhabits a concoction of wildlife with its variant culture. Kenya has a plethora of natural wilderness ranging from Masai Mara savannah to Tsavo, Lake Nakuru and Amboseli. This is the land where the concept of romantic safari, now known as the Kenya Safari took birth and there on continued to addict the world with its bliss. Mainly, Masai Mara is considered to be the best Kenya safari for inhabiting the rare sight of elephants, buffaloes, rhinos and Kenyan leopards and lions. Though their time of migration cannot be calculated, but it is a rare beauty. The âbig fiveâ, as they are called, migrate from the arid and scorched lands of Serengeti in Tanzania. The Kenya safari is designed to film this ebb tide of wildlife migrating which is well worth the effort. Though exact moments of this migration can never be fixed but it depends on certain factors like rainfall, winds etc. Thus it can be at any time of the year and you can avail the luxury of witnessing this never-before event at any time of the year. Just so that your timing should be correct! The gaming reserves of Kenya are a once in a lifetime and the warm locals make it more memorable. In the parched zone of Kenya lies the Samburu Game Reserve which harbors a tiny oasis. As this is atypical of the other features, Kenya safari to this area can enliven the spirit of spotting many rare species. This is a habitat to long neck reticulated giraffes, gerenuk antelopes, Grevy zebras, Somali ostriches and likes. It is a delight to be able to see any of these with your naked eye and get a glimpse of their activities. Different kind of Kenya safaris allude to different style of entertainment. Thus, the experiences are majestic and the exhilaration is king-sized. Along with the Kenya safari, you can visit a couple of national parks nestled in the vicinity. These parks are witnesses to huge animals navigating around the area in search of water holes to gratify their quench. In the Amboseli National Park, you can expect to catch a sight of baboons, cheetahs and lions. Even large herds of elephants can be spotted at times, crossing the savannah in search of edible feeding lands. A smaller version of the national parks is that of Lake Nakuru which is mainly known for offering homes to rhinos. An added feature of this park is bird watching leisure that is at its best in the world. There is no end to the vast profusion of Kenya safari and its wildlife. It is an unending tale of divine beauty and explicit pleasure acclaimed naturally. A trip to this land of wildlife to view the Kenya safari can be best fruitful if planned around the dry winter months or shiny spring season. You could also customize the Kenya safari as per you needs!

Also, any other pointers for traveling there during that time of year would be greatly appreciated.
My best friend and I are thinking of going on Safari next December, and I was wondering if that is a good time of year to go on Safari? Thank you.
Just to add to the above answer. There are some malaria free parks that you can visit if you do not want to take medication. Madikwe and Pilansberg for example are really nice big five reserves, although not as big as Kruger. Kruger is the largest National park and is mostly self drive (although the camps do offer drives and sometimes walks at an additional fee) and self catering (there are some small shops and restaurants depending on the camp) There are a variety of private camps as well. Pilansberg is also self drive with the option of drives from the rangers at an additional fee. Madikwe is not self drive so you have to be with a ranger — it is a more pricey option though.
Here is a list of national parks (see link) you can also find lots of other info on that site, including info on malaria, best times to go etc December can be very hot and the foliage should be full at that time of year making it a bit more challenging to find animals but not that much more. Just use all your senses and you should spot them
(i.e. when you are in the park if you are doing a self drive don’t drive with your windows up and the radio on) And another thing if you want to do a self drive get full insurance cover at the car rental agency (it won’t be expensive and it will save you worrying if you do mess up the car on the dirt roads in the park, there are some tar roads but not all)
Madikwe and Pilansberg are both North West Parks (provincial not national)
wherever you decide to go enjoy it!

South Africa has so much variety to offer visitors that it is difficult to define in a few words. One can travel from isolated bushveldt to cosmopolitan city in a few hours. A safari can be followed by a visit to the spectacular coast and on to the magnificent Drakensburg mountain range. Activities ranging from game drives to shark dives are all part of the South African experience. South Africa is a country that truly has something for everyone.
South Africans national parks and reserves have been splendidly managed for decades and visitors are likely to observe most of southern Africas animals in these parks. In addition, there are many private game reserves providing five-star accommodation and personalized service rivaling any resort in the world. From backpacking to ultimate luxury, you will find what you are looking for in South Africa.
Some of our favorite places:
1. Kruger National Park is Africas oldest game reserve and is one of its largest at nearly 2 million hectares. You are likely to spot all of the “big five” in this park.
2. Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Game Reserve in the heart of KwaZulu-Natal is renowned for its white rhino conservation program.
3. Itala Game Reserve in KwaZulu-Natals rugged northern region offers not only spectacular game viewing but contains some of southern Africas most unique geological features.
4. The Drakensburg Mountains are a must-see while in South Africa. Its magnificent peaks and valleys can be accessed by car, foot, mountain bike or horse and visitors can see many of the rock paintings that its ancient inhabitants have left behind.
5. Tsitsikamma National Park is a unique mountainous coastal ecosystem and one of the worlds largest marine reserves. Watch dolphins surf the waves, take a hike along the rocky coast, and watch whales while camping on the beach. The Otter trail, a 10-day hike along the coast, has a waiting list of months, and is named for the shy creatures that feed along the shores of the park.
6. South Africas beaches range from the tropical east coast to the cold-current west coast. If you want to get a tan while watching penguins, a visit to the Cape Peninsula is the place to be.
7. Cape Town is one of the worlds most beautiful cities. Dine at one of its many fabulous restaurants and take in the nightlife in the shadow of Table Mountain, then take a cable car to the top of the mountain for lunch the next day.
8. The Western Cape is famous for its wineries and quaint Dutch architecture. Begin your wine tour in Stellenbosch and visit as many wineries as you can (preferably while someone else drives!)
Whether you plan to spend a few days or a few weeks in South Africa, you will find what you are looking for!
